Dental implant

Explore the facts about dental implant

Many patients may be wondering what ia a dental implant? A dental implant is basically an artificial root that is implanted in the jawbone in place of the lost tooth. It is a metallic screw placed in the bone through surgery. In case of one missing tooth, a single implant is used, along with a supporting crown for the implant. The cost of one implant at our clinic is 750 Euros, plus 265 Euros for implant crown, which is normally placed on top of the implant after 4-6 months following the implant surgery. Implant surgeries are carried out in 2 stages at our clinic. The first stage of the surgery is the placing of the implant itself which is completely free of pain. A period of 4-6 months of healing time is needed before we place the final crown, bridge or denture on top of the implant.

Our patients have 2 options to choose from:

We welcome all questions about the implant process.

Mini implants allow you to chew all sorts of foods that you may not have had in years, such as steaks and maybe even chewing gum!

What can mini dental implants be used for?

Mini implants can function as long-term supporting structures. In fact, some have been successfully functioning in patients' jaws for several decades. In the past several years, some clinicians have been using MDIs for single-tooth replacements and in crown and bridge cases. We only use them for making dentures more stable where they have the highest success rate.

What's the main use for mini dental implants?

The most effective use of this unique dental product is securing a lower denture. There are millions of people worldwide who lack teeth and who struggle daily with loose teeth.

How can mini dental implant help denture wearers?

Mini dental implants are placed in a painless procedure and require only a mild local anesthetic. The mini dental implants, which are approximately the size of wooden toothpicks, are placed about five millimetres apart. The patient's denture is then carefully adjusted to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants. The result? A tight-fitting, completely reliable system that allows a patient to speak and eat with confidence. The mini dental implants are placed in about an hour. Because of the unique, minimally invasive procedure, the minute size of the implants, and where they are placed, the typical mini dental implant patient can enjoy a light meal an hour or so after having the mini implants placed. Furthermore, a denture patient who has had his or her prosthesis stabilized with MDI can remove and replace the denture easily after a little practice, and can easily utilize good dental hygiene. All in all, far superior to suffering from a loose denture.

How can these tiny mini dental implants withstand the forces from chewing?
Mini implants are made from titanium alloy, which is extremely strong and grows well to human bone. If the bone is adequate to take the implants, they are usually very able to withstand chewing.
Like everything in the body, there are cases of failure or fracture; however, these are rare.

Advanced Dental Implant Procedures
In many cases the bone present in the jaw is insufficient to hold the implant and an additional advanced surgery may be required to augment the bone in your jaw.

• Bone Grafting - In cases where there is insufficient bone, bone grafting may be needed. A graft may be take from some other site of patients body or may be artificial bone. The purpose is to place the graft at site of dental implant and depending upon individual cases an implant may be placed at the same time or at a later date when sufficient bone forms.

• Maxillary Sinus Lift - Maxillary Sinus is an open cavity present in the upper jaw and it humidifies the inspired air. Some times there is lack of bone volume beneath the maxillary sinus cavity and height of jaw bone insufficient to hold the implant and placement of implant may perforate the sinus. In such cases maxillofacial surgeon can perform maxillary sinus lift where in a window is made in the jaw bone to lift the sinus membrane and bone graft is deposited in the area from where sinus lining has been elevated. The implant can be placed at the same time or at later date. It is a minor surgical procedure and complication include pain, swelling and perforation of maxillary sinus lining. With gentle handling complication can be minimised. The procedure is done on out patient basis under local anesthesia.

II. Minimally Invasive, computer-aided dental surgery

What is minimally invasive, computer-aided dental surgery?
This is the most advanced and modern implant technique available on the market today using high-tech radiological and surgical techniques, resulting in reliable, accurate and safe dental work.

What is the exact procedure of computer-aided surgery?

After the first check-up at our clinic, we prepare the patient for a special computer-guided 3D dental scan. Later, the scanned data is entered into a computer where it is analysed and processed. This establishes the ideal position of the implants, the quantity and quality of the existing jaw bone, and finally, shows the optimal virtual placement of the implants.
This customised 3D implant information is then emailed to Sweden, where they produce a high-precision surgical guide that will allow us to place the implants at the right angle and depth, with no incision in the gum, no sutures and little or no discomfort.
This is why we call this surgery minimally invasive dental implant surgery.
